The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden located in Siraj Bagh opposite the famous Dal Lake was inaugurated by Smt. Sonia Gandhi on 2008. The sprawling tulip garden spread over 30 hectares with more than 70 varities of Tulip is Asia`s largest Tulip garden. It is thrown open to the public once in a year.

The sprawling Asia's biggest tulip garden in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar holds thousands of flowers impart a mesmerising ambience to this 90-acre tourist attraction in the Valley.Nearly 1.3 million tulip bulbs comprising 70 varieties of various colours have been grown in the garden,the vast tulip garden overlooking the Dal Lake in the city. Located close to the famous Mughal gardens of Chashma Shahi, Nishat and Shalimar, the Kashmir tulip garden is seen as a milestone in making holidays memorable for thousands of domestic and foreign tourists who come to the Valley each year.An entry fee of 50 INR per adult and 20 INR per child have been fixed

Tulip flowers are one of the most beautiful flowers available on Earth. It is been said that the Tulip flower is first found in Iran, and is the national flower of Iran. After Rose and Dalia, Tulip is the flower with more demand in the world. The Tulip garden present in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India, covers over 75 acres. These flowers are grown in Sirag garden near Dal Lake in Srinagar. 400 men are worked for this Tulip garden to blossom. Here the Tulip flowers are grown in a series of rows, each row with a different color of Tulips. In this Tulip garden of Srinagar, a total sum of 12 lakh Tulip flowers are present, with the Tulip flowers in 60 different colors. Execpt in black and blue, Tulip flowers are available in all other colors. The Tulip flower can hold its freshness for 7 days. TULIPS grow on Bulbous spring flowering plants. The flowers can be traced to have been brought by Ottomman Turks to Holland (Netherlands) in early 16th centuary. Tulips are also cultivated in Austria .But in Netherlands , Tulips have now become as one of the symbols of the country . Tulip Bulbs and their future options are traded in Stock Exchanges in Holland (Netherlands ). Being Colourful, captivating and tender , these flowers have a limited life every season.

TULIP Garden of Kashmir which is about 7 kms from the srinagar city, was inaugurated in March2008 by Smt Sonia Gandhi.The garden is just on Boulevard Chashme Shahi Link Road proximal to the Botanical Garden. Developed recently with the support from Dutch Experts , the garden has mid spring Varieties of TULIPS lasting for one month only from mid April to Mid may. The garden is perched in the lap of foothills of the ZABARWAN mountain range with scenic Dal Lake forming the front view from the garden . It is terraced in three levels with two terraces completely occupying the Tulip Beds . These beds are being laid in the last or the uppermost terrace now.Fountais have also been laid in the garden .Though the Tulip Gardens of Amesterdam (Netherlands ) are known world over for their varieties and expanse yet Tulip Garden of Kashmir has come up as the largest mid spring Tulip garden in Asia. .
